Was müssen Geräte in den USA (Nordamerika) erfüllen?
John Allen in der emc-pstc-Liste: "Technically, the problems should not be difficult to overcome, but the differences in certification philosophies - especially when trying to get safety certification for N. America - can be VERY significant and considerably more onerous in terms of both the design (especially for materials used) and manufacturing controls, and in the frequency with which they are applied e.g. routine inspection visits to the manufacturing plant every few months (sometime 4 times a year!). Selling without independent safety certification (inparticular) may well be very difficult and the costs of obtaining and maintaining this can be considerable."
Gerätesicherheit wird von 
Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs) wie UL, CSA, Nemko, TÜV... geprüft. Das bedeutet i.d.R. vierteljährliche Audits!?
BTW: OSHA ist "Occupational Safety & Health Administration" vom "U.S. Department of Labor", zuständig für die Zulassung von NRTLs.
CSA ist billiger und schneller als UL?
http://www.pruefinstitut.de/ (Siemens) führt Tests nach UL und CSA aus.
http://www.ul-europe.com/ bei einfachen Produkten, kleiner Fertigung ca. 5000EUR einmal (Firmenprüfung), 2000EUR pro zus. Produkt, dann laufende Audits (Fertigung).
Geräte in der Kategorie "ICE" => UL 508 (A)?
EMC - nur Störaussendung
"Limited Power Source" könnte Prüfungen vereinfachen.
Betreffend Batterien: UL 60950 fordert, daß Batterien UL 2054 in Annex P.1 einhalten, ggf. auch UL 1642 (Lithium-Batterien).
